The obligation of VCA in the Netherlands
VCA certification is a system related to the principles of safe work in the Benelux countries. If you intend to work as a workman or legal person in the Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg, you will certainly meet the term .
The legal obligation of VCA
VCA is not an obligation under the labor law, but it is a legal solution and its complement. Having a VCA certificate is a proof that work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the applicable Labor Law.
VCA is a specific form of certification that relates to the technical industries:
- assembly,
- welding
- electric,
- petrochemical, etc.
These are works defined by law as “work at increased risk”.
Depending on the type of VCA, the certificates are intended for:
- for private person, worker, employees (Basis or VOL VCA)
- as well as companies, people who run a sole proprietorship in the Netherlands, ZZP
- recruitment agencies (VOL VCA, VIL VCU, VCA certification).
Each case is individual, therefore we encourage you to contact our office whenever questions arise. Whatever, the principle is simple. If you are a regular employee who does not have managerial functions, it is a requirement to have a basic VCA (Basis VCA) degree. Managers, staff supervisors and sole proprietors in the Netherlands should apply for the VOL VCA certificate. The VIL VCU certificate is intended for intercessors of employment agencies. Companies that want to enter the Dutch market undergo the VCA certification process.
How can you get a certificate?
All certificates, apart form company certification, are issues basing on positive result of the exam.
After passing the test, the candidate is entered into the official SSVV database. The VCA certificate is valid for a period of 10 years.
Certification for companies involves implementation of the system and internal audit.
Registration for the course with an exam or the exam itself is possible:
- for individuals
- for groups (at least 6 people for Polish language, 8 people in case of other languages)
