The ARBO legislation (ARBO-wetgeving) states that employers can demonstrate that their personnel are sufficiently trained in working safely with a platform.

In the event of an accident with an aerial platform, the employer must be able to convince the insurer and the Inspector of Social Affairs and Employment (Inspecteur van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid)(SZW) that his staff have received best possible training. The burden of proof in this case lies with the employer. In addition, an employee must know in what way he handles a lift truck safely and expertly. And he must be aware of current legislation regarding working with a cherry picker.

It is therefore advisable that employees who have to work with a platform must be in possession of a valid certificate.

The training is intended for employees who have to work with an aerial platform in various work situations and have not yet followed specific training on the safety aspects. The training is also relevant for their supervisors.

The training ‘Safe work with working at height machines’ is interactive. The topics are covered during short presentations and in discussions. VCA Talen deals with various aspects of working safely at and in the aerial platform. Participants can also put the learned into practice in pairs. Then the participants carry out the practical assignments individually in a course. The trainer assesses their skills.

Individual alignment
Prior to the training, the workplace of the participants is mapped out as well as possible and it is checked which machines are being used. This ensures that the precise content of the training is tailored to the participants and their working conditions. Every training differs slightly from the other.

After completing the training, the participant is in any case aware of the dangers of different aerial platforms and what safety measures he must take to prevent them. The participant is able to responsibly operate a platform and can comply with the regulations in practice. This reduces the risk of accidents in the daily work situation.

Exam
The training is concluded with a theory test. When both the theoretical test and the practical assignments have been successfully completed, the participants will receive a certificate of participation that is valid for 5 years.

Time
The training consists of two sessions, which VCA Talen usually takes place in one day.

Locations
The theory section is regularly organized in the VCA Language Training Center. Practical training sessions also take place at a different location at the request of the client.
